The concept envisions an open, flexible and green urban space structured around three key elements: a water mirror, a ring of linden trees, and a light, modular pavilion. The circular water basin forms the heart of the square—bringing reflections, movement, and atmosphere into the space. When drained, it transforms into a multifunctional platform for events, markets or concerts.
The square is framed by a linden tree colonnade that creates natural green walls, softens the scale of the space and improves the microclimate. Pedestrian paths follow existing desire lines, ensuring an intuitive and comfortable circulation. Vegetation based on native species supports biodiversity, water retention and reduces the heat-island effect.
The single-storey pavilion, built from prefabricated CLT modules, hosts social and cultural functions: a tourist information point, public restrooms, an exhibition area and a small gastronomic space. Its modularity allows easy reconfiguration or relocation, aligning with principles of circular design.
The entire square is conceived as accessible, inclusive and energy-efficient—with gentle ramps, tactile elements, LED lighting, a green roof on the pavilion, and a system for stormwater retention and reuse. Calmed traffic, reorganized parking and new pedestrian connections toward the river improve safety and urban flow.
