The Bühl School Complex presents itself today as a green school campus. At its heart lies the central schoolyard, from which both the school and sports facilities are accessible, along with the historic primary school building at Kantonsschulstrasse. Due to the steadily growing population, the Bühl school facility is set to be expanded.

The idea behind the expansion was to create a wealth of spatial and atmospheric qualities that extend the school campus and give it a new identity. The above-ground volume is grouped into two simple geometric buildings. The main entrance is located at the corner of Bühl-Spitalstrasse. From the forecourt, the new buildings can be accessed, leading to the covered passageway and into the inner courtyard that connects the school campus. The new buildings integrate into the existing composition of the campus but remain architecturally distinct. The main entrance to the school and kindergarten is prominently positioned along Bühlstrasse, visible from the newly created covered forecourt between the two new buildings, which is directly connected to the large schoolyard.

The architectural expression of the new school buildings is derived from their timber construction: vertical and horizontal wooden elements structure the façades, contributing to the intended sense of lightness.
